Dr. Troy Washington’s long-standing interest in martial arts expands over several decades. He began training in Kempo-Goju in 1979 as an adolescent under the renowned master martial artist Muhammed Sabir. While learning discipline and the meditative practices of Karate, Dr. Washington developed a passion for martial arts.
Dr. Washington’s other great lifelong passion and commitment has involved traveling extensively to countries where martial arts thrives. He has trained in Tokyo, China and Brazil, developing skills and learning application policies of Karate-do.
As a dedicated practitioner, Dr. Washington acts as a liaison between the integrating tenets of martial arts with spirituality, and building prospective Karate-kas through the soul of service.
Dr. Washington was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and received his Doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where his studies focused on urban education, with a concentration in non-profit leadership.
He has received numerous awards and recognition for his commitment to martial arts. He remains active and teaches martial arts at a Kempo-Goju dojo in Milwaukee.
